| i need to better about updating this thing.
talent time is coming to a close for the summer and it's kind of a relief and at the same time, kind of sad. i'll be glad to be done w/the running around and the late nights but i'll miss hanging out with everyone and doing the show. we've been lucky the past two years that we've had great cast, crew and orchestra members and that our production staff has really pushed us to put on the best show possible. ever since jcs last year we've surpassed the typical "geftt" shows and i hope we can keep that up in future years.
for all of those involved in talent time this year, thank you for your hard work. this year wouldn't have been as successful as it has been without you.
| you can call me gimpy
a lot can happen over the course of a few days. apparently when i stepped wrong on my foot on thursday, i did more than i thought because i have some sort of sprain (as far as the doctors can figure). so i am now as my sister has dubbed me, a cripple, hobbling around on crutches in an ankle splint. i'm getting to be a pro at hopping around on one foot and i get to have "fun" crawling up and down the stairs. but hopefully all this will be over w/soon because as much as i love being waited on by my family, i feel way too helpless.
in other news, i had one of the best days at work on saturday even tho my ankle was swollen (this was before i went to the doctor since i thought it was nothing major still) and i had to work all day. julio was late to work for the first time ever because he stayed out until 6:30 am and was kinda hungover lol. so julio was in a good mood and was kinda punchy all day so we (the other emily and me) had fun joking around all day. emily and louis almost arranged a trist in the walk-in fridge and i found out that apparently all the hispanics at work are at least semi-in love w/me. it's flattering but at the same time, it puts me in an awkward position because first of all, these guys don't understand much english and my spanish is not that good, and secondly because of my whole stupid afraid-to-be-mean thing. oh well. i'll figure out what to do eventually. hehe but i guess i should be careful for what i wish for...
| "hispanos somos mejores amantes"
this week has to be some of the hottest, grossest weather we've had yet this summer. without a/c at home, i never feel like i cool down unless i'm driving and turn up the air full blast. oh well. not much i can do to change that.
i've come to realize, yet again, how uncoordinated i really am. i've been so spazzy at work lately, dropping things and tripping and running into stuff. i don't know if it's because i'm trying to work quickly and i'm moving too fast or if i'm just a really big klutz lol. but it's annoying either way. hopefully it'll stop soon (or at least lessen) so i don't hurt myself. it does make work interesting. dennis, the spanish-speaking pizza maker also makes things interesting. (the first line is something he said to me the other night - ask if you need to know the loose translation) he keeps asking me when we're going to drink alcohol and asks why i don't have a boyfriend. it's flattering that he's surprised i'm single but it still sucks that it's a constant reminder of what i don't have. it's so frustrating to see things work out for everyone else (or almost everyone else) and not for me.
at least talent time is going well. it was great to see isabella and the schilares last night. she has to be one of the cutest kids i've ever seen so i hope the show goes well so we can give her as much as possible. =) if you're going to be in northern new jersey in the first two weekends in august, come see the show!!! i'd love to see you and it'll be a good production for a really good cause!! check out the info at www.charlessellerfoundation.org
| i got my fluteworld order today!!! =D yay for recital music, new etudes, a new instrument stand and a "flute bag"!!!
if there was a music dork's anonymous, i would definitely be a member.
| i had one of those "this is why i love theater" moments last night when my family went to see ragtime at papermill. it was amazing. the cast was phenomenal and the show's message is really powerful. it was just a really moving performance and i'm glad i got to see it.
today was fun too. i slept in and then watched a little tv. then ed, poff and i went to the state fair at the meadowlands. i had never been before so it was an interesting experience. we walked around a bit, wasted some money playing the carnival games (i did actually win myself one prize tho ), ate some deep fried foods (corn dogs and funnel cakes), and watched the pig races. it was nice to enjoy the weather and the good company. hehe especially since apparently ed and i look like a couple since almost every booth operator assumed we were.
then i came home for a night of bumming around w/the fam. all in all, it was a nice holiday.
happy 4th of july!!! | | |
